WooCommerce: turn off voluntary usage tracking

Prerequisites

WooCommerce administration access and an overview of activated WooCommerce.com services.

Under WooCommerce → Settings → Advanced → WooCommerce.com check the Enable tracking option and deactivate it if data sharing is not required. This affects WooCommerce usage data and does not replace checking shop, payment or server logs.

Check

After the change, check browser memory, network connections and web server, proxy and application logs separately. A product setting does not automatically prove that no visitor IP is stored at all levels.

Overall check

Switching off voluntary telemetry does not replace checking other shop levels. To do this, use the checking checklist for unnecessary visitor data .

Dismantling

If the voluntary usage data transmission is required again, consciously reactivate tracking and document which data WooCommerce transmits as a result.

Important: IP processing is not IP storage

An IP address has to be processed to establish and deliver a network connection. Hosting providers, firewalls or DDoS protection may also process or retain it for a limited time for security purposes. No Logging distinguishes this security layer from unnecessary persistent visitor logging by the website, application and ordinary access logs.
